Royal Rant: New Frontiers

My friend Madeline Freeman recently published her book Awaking (Review coming soon), and she did it herself. Now for me, I had never thought about doing that, I always figured I would get a traditionalpublishing contract and they would take care of me. However with her doing this, I am now questioning my logic, am I really too good to self publish? Should I give this thing a chance?

Madeline did a multi-platform publishing, one that she said was rather simple. Her idea of simple and mine may vary but I believe she is on to something here with what she is doing. Yes I have issues with e-readers, and I probably will never own one myself but there are plenty of people who do have them, and if you want to get the widest audience possible, sometimes you have to suck it up and do something you never thought you would.

Like with All My Children and One Life To Live going to the internet. There are some who are crabby about it, and sure there are some people who don't have the internet connection but there are a vastmajority who do! Plus Prospect Park is working to bring our shows back to TV in the traditional format! If the producers of these beloved soaps are willing to branch out and take a risk, not knowing whats going to happen, well then maybe I should too!!

As for me, I will continue to write and create, and hopefully get my edits done one of these days. Once I've gotten past that part, then I will decide how to publish but am more than willing to takeadvice in the mean time!
