Holy Shitballs as Kathy Griffin would say. National Enquirer is reporting that Oprah is losing her control over her network, OWN, because Discovery Channel execs are not pleased with her. “Oprah’s situation is equivalent to Donald Trump telling one of his ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ contestants: ‘You’re fired!’" Meaning that nothing she says really matters because well, she's just a figurehead now.
Since the beginning of the network, it has struggled in the ratings. Even Rosie O'Donnell couldn't help the station bring in the viewers like they had all hoped they could. So the people who run Discovery have said this isn't work with O have total power over everything. “So she was stripped of her power. She’s no longer in a position to make executive decisions or hire staff without consulting top Discovery executives first.”
Of course the mighty O isn't taking this lightly and has started spiraling out of control “For Oprah, this is a bitter personal failure and a devastating blow to her ego. The unexpected demotion has sent her into an emotional tailspin so severe that friends are deeply concerned for her. They fear it could trigger one of her drinking and eating binges." I actually feel sorry for her, I can't imagine being given carte blanche and then have the rug pulled out from under me.
