John Mayer: I Didn't Want To Be Boring

"I was going through a time in my life where I didn't really want to share what was going on, but I didn't want to be boring." John Mayer told NPRs All Things Considered over the weekend. He was referring of course to his infamous interview where he called new mom Jessica Simpson "Sexual napalm" and that Jennifer Aniston was behind the times in technology. There was also something about him tonguing Perez Hilton but truthfully I want to envision that it was me he was making out with.  Truthfully I get what he's saying, I never want to be boring either but I live by an adage my grandmother told me. "If you don't have an interesting story to share, then don't share anything."

He also seems to understand that he can't unsay those things he said and that there is no way we are ever going to forget those comments.  He basically says just because he's sorry and wiser "It doesn't mean I can go back and scrub it out, but I understand it now." I'm wondering what he understands, that he can't go around calling people sexual napalm or he can't go around telling homoerotic stories and not expect people to think he's gay or bisexual.

Do you think John Gets it this time?
