Breaking: Dick Clark Has Died

I was sitting in class when my phone blew up with one common message among everyone: Dick Clark has died. It is true many outlets are reporting that the "eternal teenager" is up in heaven watching over us now. He died this morning of a massive heart attack, after receiving outpatient care yesterday at L.A.'s St. Johns. Measures were taken to revive him but none were successful.

Dick Clark created and hosted "American Bandstand" in 1957 and it aired until 1987. Dick and his show introduced us to such acts as Michael Jackson and Madonna. He was also the emcee of ABCs ever popular Rockin' New Years Eve for most of it's run, only ceding the position to Ryan Seacrest after a massive stroke in 2006.

Ryan Seacrest has issued this statement: "I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life."

Dick Clark is survived by his wife Kari and his three children.
