As the end draws near for the ladies of Desperate Housewives, the rumors are kicking up as to how the show will end. With this seasons mystery connecting itself to the first season, it leads people to believe that somehow the shows entire run will be something else.
The biggest theory and one that I am beginning to agree with is that, Mary Alice didn't really kill herself. Instead the entire series has been about how things would have shaken out if she didn't tell her friends that she was being blackmailed. This makes sense on a lot of different levels, especially given that Mary Alice has narrated nearly every episode of the show except for one special mens ep. (Yes DH did it before Grey's Anatomy, and the househusbands show was much better.)
Of course the producers have said they wouldn't mess with the DNA of the show, but rather they would "pay homage" to it. What better way to do that than to have Mary Alice telling a story, one about her friends and their complicated lives. It would stay perfectly within the character of the show to save the biggest and best twist for last.
