It was a blow to many fans when it was reported that Susan Lucci had turned down Prospect Parks offer for her to continue. "How can she do this to us?" was a popular refrain heard around the net, myself included. Devastation was the name of the game and some fans were ready to turn on the daytime doyenne. However it was quickly pointed out to me by my friend and fellow blogger, check out his site, John W Seip that this was common negotiating practice.
Once that simple fact really hit home, I began to wonder what happened. Why in the world would someone leak contract talks to the press? Of course the man that Susan said “has what, for me, is that fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance,” Yep Brian Frons and his ABC croonies were more than likely behind this. Why would they throw Susan under the bus? To letn us know that they areglad to not be in business with the gracious actress.
Ravenbeauty also insists that this is nothing more than a nasty little spin to paint La Lucci in a bad light. "The latest spin on Susan Lucci's refusal of the Prospect Park offer is nothing more than a backhanded slap at the beloved daytime icon for daring to tell the truth to her fans in the end." With all the bad press that ABC has been getting for the show that shall not be named, they had to drum something up. "She added a chapter to her book, and in return, they added a gift of their own. Don't you believe it!"
I hope the ABC PR department and Brian Frons are proud of themselves, because as Cameron Mathison warned "You don't mess with soap fans" and by targeting our diva, you are messing with us!!!
