There is a great debate among All My Children fans right now, Why is Prospect Park moving so slow to secure the cast for AMC 2.0? There are many theories out there right now, some say that this is all smoke and mirrors and that there was never really any plan to save the beloved show. There are others who say that the shows executive producer Julie Hannan Carruthers may be the reason why some cast members aren't signing on the dotted line.
Neither of those theories match mine though. See when The Spew was announced there was such a backlash from fans that it led me to think that possibly ABC has a contingency in place. See the one thing the people at Disney are not is stupid, well if you take out Anne Sweeney and Brian Frons, these people always have a back up plan. Look at the future CEO switch that they set up this week. After they learned how pissed off the fans were about the cancellation, I'm thinking that they decided to license out the show to keep it alive with the hope that once That food show is canned they can bring back the folks of Pine Valley, thus making fans happy.
Now I know you're trying to poke holes in my wishful theory and thats good, I want you to. We already know that PP is going to sell episodes to a TV network, sure they say a cable network but you know never know. Right now ABC is tanking in the rating primetime and daytime, and most of this is due to the ill will of soap fans. Dancing With The Stars have continuously reached new lows this season, while the much anticipated Charlie's Angels was canceled due to low ratings.
Hmm low ratings, backlash and angry fans how would ABC and Disney fix this? By bringing back the beloved All My Children

And how are they supposed to get all the cast and crew back they trod on repeatedly? Think Susan will sucky face up to Frons I dont think so! Debbie has moved on, Jacob Young has moved on they are all free agents now!!! ABC trashed it so even they could not re-work it at this point unless they gave huge raises and groveled to all the AMC cast!!!
Yes ABC has a contingency and it is called compulsive stupid decisions!
And any theory that allows Disney off as you stated that Disney is not stupid is just so far out in left field it is not funny. If Disney and their suits were not stupid they would have fired Frons the soap terminator yrs ago taken ABC by the hand and smartened them up when 41 yrs of viewing was working every single day period and making them money to begin with! Being greedy and keeping something in your back pocket if this is the plan as you state above is just more stupidity then ever!
I think this theory is just wishful thinking.
I love AMC but honestly, if it doesn't make it to TOLN then I rather it finally be put to rest than to ever see it again under Frons scary combination of ignorance and arrogance micro-murdering dumb thumb ever again!
PEOPLE, LET'S FACE IT, WE HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT'S TO BECOME OF OUR BELOVED SHOW....THAT SAID, I BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING TO DO WITH AMC HAS BECOME SUCH AN EMBROILED MESS THAT IT WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHERE IT'S SHOWN, BUT ABC TRULY DIDN'T GET IT...DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE FANS. I'VE STOPPED WATCHING THE STATION ALMOST ENTIRELY, AND MAYBE IF MANY PEOPLE DID THE SAME, AND POSSIBLY IF OTHERS ARE DOING THE SAME, THEN ABC IS IN MORE TROUBLE THAN THEY CAN EVEN CONCIEVE OF. HOPEFULLY, SOMETHING WILL WORK OUT, OR IT'S OVER FOREVER. I THINK MAINLY BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE TOO MUCH FOR THE ACTORS/ACTRESSES TO DECIDE WHAT THEY SHOULD DO, AND THEY CAN'T ALL JUST WAIT IN WINGS TO FIGURE IT OUT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
disney never wanted soaps when they bought abc - it was their plan from the beginning to get rid of all soaps - i really don't think they will be buying the rights back from prospect park.....smh
