I promised a two part If I wrote Soaps and I am delivering the goods. With the uncancellation of All My Children and One Life To Live, the writers now have a hard job ahead of them. re-routing all of their stories so the shows can continue once Prospect Park picks up the production. Last week I did AMC this week take on OLTL.
With Trevor St Johns exit looming, and Roger Howarths return not going so well, let's cut the character of Todd Manning altogether. I know he's a legacy character but he's been ruined beyong recognition at this point, and let's face it there will have to be cast cuts across the board. Maybe Trevor as the real Todd can be roatated in and out like they do with Tuc Watkins.
John Paul Lavoisse 's Rex needs to leave with Todd. JPL is a talented actor but like Todd Rex is ruined, and there won't be another pairing quite like Rex & Gigi. I don't know if thats a compliment or not. Rex has run his course in Llanview for now but he can be another that is rotated in and out.
For the characters that I'd like to see stay: Viki and Dorian played by beloved vets Erika Sleazak and Robin Strasser, should reignite their feud, using their newspapers as a backdrop. Wouldn't it be fun to see Dorian back as the ruthless villain that we all love, using yellow journalism to boot sales, while Viki attempts to run a classy paper. Maybe Dorian uncovers a secret that Buchanan Enterprises doesn't want anyone to know, and it reignites the Viki/Dorian/Clint triangle from years ago.
Joey and Kelly belong together, but what if Kelly discovers that she is pregnant with John McBains baby? This would throw things into a tailspin for 2 couples John/Natalie and Joey/Kelly. The siblings Nat and Joey try to fight the jealousy that they feel but give into it and start scheming together. their sister Jessica tries to be the voice of reason, until they tell her that hubby Ford has left her to follow Aubrey, a former love of his, to Australia, and Tess returns.
