Casting Couch: Should Jodie Sing

It's already a well known fact that Ellen DeGenres will be producing the film version of the just reviewed book Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult. What is not known though is who will play the 3 major characters that form the story. As always I have ideas as to who should play Zoe, Max, andVanessa.

For the role of Zoe, I think that Jodie Foster should play her. In fact even as I read the book, I kept imagining her in the role. The character truly is a modern day Job, and there is no body I would love to see tackle the obstacles that are thrown her way more than Miz Foster. We already know that she is talented and this is just the kind of role that one would feelcomfortable having as a last performance, if a performer decided to retire from acting.

Vanessa is an entirely different story. Sure she has her hoops to jump through but the role is much less dramatic. Whoever takes it on has to be charismatic, funny and beautiful. for this reason, I hope nepotism wins the day here. Portia De Rossi was born to play the role and I have no doubt in my mind that she would wow everyone with her acting ability. Plus I bet she and Jodie would have mad crazy chemistry.

The male part of this equation is much harder to cast. I went through a litany of men I thought would be good for the role but only one keptcoming back to me. Mark Ruffalo is having some kind of career resurgence lately and I think he would fit in with the other 2 ladies perfectly. Max is a very troubled character but also is the voice of reason, and antagonist not an easy feat to pull off. Marl can not only pull it off but look good doing it, and has the acting chops to hold his own against an Oscar winner like Jodie.
