Dear Kirstie;
When you were on Cheers, and doing the "Look Whose Talking" movies you were the bees knees. We loved you and wanted nothing but the best for you. You were our sweetheart, and you comedic timing was nothing short of remarkable. You became a superstar because you knew your strengths, when you hit the highs you were very high.
"Veronicas Closet" was the beginning of the end for you. Instead of being part of an ensemble they thrust you into the role of leading lady. The show would have fallen apart, gone off the rails without you being the lead actress. However that also boosted your ego to make you forget that you work best when everyone is equal, not when you are termed the leading lady.
That's where you went wrong with "Fat Actress." Oh, Kirstie how I tried to like that show, it had all the elements there. A funny star, who was willing to make fun of herself. As the series went on, it became less funny as you hogged more and more airtime. Showtime mercifully pulled the plug on the show, which had devolved into a one note joke. We got it, you are fat, stop hitting us over the head with it.
For a few years now you're weight has over shadowed your career. You appeared on Oprah in a bikini and everyone thought you looked smoking, then you lost your endorsement deal with Jenny Craig and apparently you decided that was for the best. So you created your very own weight loss system, Organic Liason. That had to be one of the best ideas you have ever had, but of course controversy had to follow. Merideth Viera had every right to ask you if the company was sponsored or had money from Scientology. Why did you have to blow it up and accuse someone of intolerance? So that you could get more press for your company?
That wasn't going to be a problem, with your 'reality' show "Kirstie Alley's Big Life." Yet another show where you are the only one that matters. Sigh Kirstie let me be blunt with you, America doesn't care if you are fat or skinny, black or white If you give us a good product we are there. There have been rumblings that you want to launch you're own talk show, don't do it. Go back to an ensemble comedy, something to remind us why we fell in love with you in the first place. You must get thousands of scripts every year, find one that you really like and sign on the dotted line for it, then help surround yourself with talented performers.
