Agnes: I Will Try

As if I needed another reason to just adore Agnes Nixon, she gave me one today. Part of the adoration is because she created All My Children and Erica Kane, but also because she is considered a master storyteller. The beloved icon released this statement that should put a smile on any soap fans day, hint our girls not happy and she is not going to take it  “ABC’s decision to cancel All My Children and One Life to Live saddens me greatly, I treasure the decades that the worlds of Pine Valley and Llanview were brought to life by our talented casts and crews. I appreciate that the network allowed our teams to break new dramatic ground and always supported our commitment to the honest portrayal of social issues. We hope we have entertained our viewers and perhaps even educated them along the way. My deep gratitude goes to all the talented people who have contributed to All My Children and One Life To Live over these many years; we were always family, made up of writers, producers, directors, actors, crews. Equally important in that family are our loyal fans who shared this journey with us. Although ABC has concluded there is no longer a place for our shows on their network, I will do everything possible to keep them alive. God bless you all.” And you also Agnes. Please know that AMC And OLTL fans will do whatever it takes to help you!!!!

Agnes Nixon never fails to show grace and poise. Brian Frons could learn a lot from her.

Agnes, if this gets to you, THANK YOU for the many years of love and entertainment. I have been an All My Children fan for over 40 years and I am devastated as the decision of ABC daytime. I want counted! I am NOT a Nielsen home! There has to be a better way to count the fans other than waiting for us to want to do horrible things to TPTB at ABC. It's just so hard to imagine. They sacrifice millions of viewers and have NO guaranteed NEW viewers for their new proposed programming. That is a LOT of money gambled when they had a solid core of viewers already. It's all foolishness. Thank you for speaking for all of us. Let us know if we can help. We will!

I am not a viewer.I was a Guiding Light viewer for 32 years. You were involved with GL before my time. That was your training ground. You carried the soap opera legacy on. Now I am asking you to save the soap opera genre. It is even more painful than losing ones soap to see the soap opera needlessly be killed. Please look into foreign soaps. Find out if the genre is strong in foreign countries. If they are please sell to them and that is how you can save the genre. This can be a chance for foreigners to break into the american soap opera market.

This is a real slap in the face to Ms Nixon and the cast/crew of AMc/OLTL. These shows could have been shortened to half hour each.
"SHAME" on Mr Frons!!!

Anon 858 When Agnes says she will try, I truly believe that she will exhaust every option before she gives up and even then she'll be thinking of how to save our shows.

Anon 907 I would have been happy with that. Or I suggested that they air soaps on Mon Wed And Fri and air the other shows the other 2 days

I just suggested to ABC that they keep SOAPNET up and running and show AMC and OLTL on that network. This way everyone is happy, and we can end this war. Maybe they will listen, maybe they won't, but I am hoping Ms. Nixon might be able to suggest this. After all, these shows are her legacy and as a loyal viewer for 40 years, it is my sanctuary from the stress of the world. God Bless, Agnes Nixon for creating these shows. They have changed lives.

I just wanna say thank you to Agnes, you gave me something to relate to my mother with, when weren't so close. I have watched All My Children since I was born. I am just very deeply saddened that it has come down to this, anything you need Agnes we will help you, if you help us. I for one if they both leave will never watch a new abc show again.

I think the whole reason for all of this, including them killing soapnet is that Disney wants out of the Soap business which is just sad. I think we all need to send well wishes, and offer our support to Agnes, if she buys back the soaps we WILL see them continue I have no doubt
