Over at Fox there is happier news. CKX, parent company to 19 Entertainment has said "As talented as Cowell is…'Idol's' future with this long-term extension is guaranteed."
Neither company seems concerned about the ratings dive the show has taken in recent years, they say cancellation is not in the shows future.
I think without Simon the show is pretty much over.
